Nothing to Wine about: HONEY Accepts Six Virtuoso Awards at the Bellamere Winery
The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), London Chapter, held the 14th annual Virtuoso Awards Gala at the Bellamere Winery and Event Centre, assembling London’s best and brightest marketing and communications professionals for an evening of wine, music and awards. The evening celebrated best practices, creativity and distinction in the categories of communications management, communications skills and communications creative. HONEY accepted three awards of excellence and three awards of merit for projects completed last year.
The IABC Virtuoso awards are judged by a panel of communications professionals located in the Golden Horseshoe Ontario and Atlantic Canada regions. The judging criteria is based on standards set by the IABC for the Silver Leaf (national) and Gold Quill (international) awards. The award entries include a work plan that details the strategic planning, objectives, approach and measurable results achieved by the project. An award-winning project must identify and define the communications opportunity and audience; set communications objectives to meet business needs; and, demonstrate measurable achievement according to those objectives through clever and creative communications.
Excellence winning work plans and work samples demonstrate a superior description of how research is used to define the opportunity and provide an advanced explanation of why it matters for the organization. The judges look for proof that the objectives were met through formal evaluation and effective measurement of things that are difficult to measure, like successful creative and audience understanding or engagement.
This year’s excellence winners for HONEY are: the London Health Sciences Centre and London Health Sciences Foundation annual report for 2008; the marketing communications campaign for Smart Smile Dentistry; and, the Viewbook for Brescia University College – Canada’s Women’s University. The merit winner projects included the launch press conference for Propane Facts and P38; Windley Ely’s new logo and tagline; and, King’s University College’s Admissions Folder.
